Raymond Murphy BSc MIEnvSc - Managing Director

Raymond attained a BSc in NUI Maynooth studying Chemistry, Biology and Maths. He has since gone on to complete a two year course in Environmental Control and Pollution. Raymond has a great interest in all things to do with nature and the impact people have on an ever changing environment.

Raymond has been working in the water industry since leaving University in 2001 in a number of different roles. He has commissioned and subsequently managed a number of large scale water and wastewater treatment plants all over the island.

Raymond has been troubleshooting and solving biological and chemical issues up and down the country and will always do his utmost to help the client's situation. He offers his opinions in a very straight forward manner and draws upon his experience to help remedy the situation.

On a personal level, Raymond likes strong coffee, his beloved Wicklow in GAA and also following Ireland at both rugby and soccer. He likes to play darts on occasion, with double six being his favourite out.



Niall Mathews MSc - Laboratory Supervisor

Niall attended NUI Maynooth where he initially obtained a BSc degree in Biology, Maths and then went on to achieve a MSc specialising in Biology. Niall leads the laboratory team with expertise, skill and integrity.

Niall has a great understanding of all test methods carried out at The Water Lab as he spent many cutting his teeth carrying out laboratory procedures before making his way into a more senior role within The Water Lab. He still loves to carry out BOD analysis from time to time.

When not in the office, Niall follows his boyhood team Dundalk FC. He also has been spotted at some Louth GAA matches.


Amanda Smyth BSc - Laboratory Analyst

Amanda, a native of Mullingar, attended college in Sligo IT here she achieved a degree in Environmental Science. This course gave her a good knowledge of groundwaters, wastewaters etc.The modules contained within this course  allowed Amanda to develop an understanding of the samples that she deals with, which is important regarding sample preparation procedures.

Amanda is one of our laboratory analysts and her daily tasks include logging in of samples, dealing with clients, carrying out both chemical and bacterial analysis and also quality checks within the lab.


Kevin Harte BSc - Laboratory Analyst

Kevin, followed his dream of working in the area of environmental science, by achieving a BSc in Environmental Science and Health in DCU. During this course, he was involved in many modules including  environmental analysis, biotechnology and environmental legislation. On a day to day level, Kevin is involved in carrying  out analysis within the laboratory, calibrating equipment, sampling externally.

Kevin enjoys many sports including scuba diving and 5 a side soccer.


Sean Carey MSc - Environmental Scientist

Sean, has  always been interested in site work, he graduated from Trinity College with a degree in Geology before enhancing his overall knowledge of water by carrying out a masters in Environmental Resources in GMIT. A native of Dublin, Sean loves getting out in the countryside past the M50.

He covers all types of environmental work ranging from ambient sampling, sea sampling, chlorinations, flow and load surveys, Legionella risk assessments. Sean has a full driving licence, Safe Pass, First Aid trained and also is a qualified lifeguard.
